Who Are They
Redcar & Cleveland Council is the local authority of the area. The Place Marketing Team was established to focus on promoting the Borough as a place to visit, live, work and enjoy. They approached iTCHYROBOT following their branding project to bring this brand to life with a custom designed website and key functionality to engage a number of target markets.
What They Needed
We were tasked with assisting the council’s Place Marketing team on a project to show off everything that’s amazing about Redcar and the surrounding region. Seaside towns are a hotspot for tourism but a decline in industry and visitors led to a need to reinvigorate how Redcar is seen and attract both tourists and long-term visitors such as residents, businesses and more, to the area
We included space across the website where high quality images could be featured to enable them to show off the local area.
What We Did
We worked alongside the team to get a better picture of how they thought the website should look, and then went away and curated a design based on their input and our experience as web developers and marketers. We know that imagery sells, so were sure to include lots of spaces where big, high-quality images could be featured to catch visitors’ eyes.
As the different parts of the website represent different aspects of the council’s campaign to bring new people and business to Redcar & Cleveland, they needed to be subtly different to achieve these goals. The branding was kept consistent, with small tweaks to appeal to different demographics, such as colours and the type of content displayed. All of the sites have a high focus on what is happening within the region, making use of calendars for planning and showcasing events.
They also required different functionality to perform their roles effectively. For example, Enjoy, aimed at tourists, has categories for the many places to visit, eat and stay so users can filter and find the most relevant places. Business showcases opportunities in the region and has map and other integrations from external providers that the council already used.
